Before you ask
Questions
The things people ask us about. If yours is not here, ask below — if it helps everyone, the answer goes up on this page.
- Is the date actually settled?
- Yes. Saturday 6 March 2027, in La Ventana, with the weekend running from Thursday the 4th to Sunday the 7th.
- Where is La Ventana?
- On the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico, about an hour south-east of La Paz. It is a small wind-and-water town rather than a resort strip — that is rather the point.
- Which airport should I fly into?
- Los Cabos (SJD), for most people. It has nonstops from thirty-odd US and Canadian cities and is usually the cheaper fare; La Ventana is about two and a quarter hours north by road. La Paz (LAP) is only an hour away, but from the US only Los Angeles flies there nonstop. The travel page compares both from your own airport and tells you which suits you.
- Why March?
- It is the tail of the windy season on that coast, which is the reason any of us know the place. Warm, dry, and the water is worth getting into.
- Do I need a car?
- Not to get to the wedding. Tick the box on your RSVP and we will put you in a van with whoever lands near you. But La Ventana has almost no taxis, so a hire car makes the rest of the trip much easier — the travel page has who to rent from and how not to get caught out by the insurance.
- What is there to do besides the wedding?
- Plenty — and some of it with us. We will be out on a downwinder at some point, and we are planning to hire pangas for snorkelling with the sea lions at Isla Cerralvo or fishing. There are humpback whales in the channel in March, hot springs you dig yourself on the beach, trails, and the hotel’s own kayaks and paddleboards. The schedule page has the full list, with who to book.
- Can I bring someone?
- Yes — plus-ones are welcome. Put their name on your RSVP so we can count them for dinner and find them a bed.
- Are children invited?
- Yes, kids are very welcome. Put their names and ages on your RSVP so the kitchen and the seating plan know they are coming.
- When should I arrive and leave?
- Arrive on Thursday 4 March and leave on Sunday 7 March — three nights. The hotel needs a three-night minimum, so that is the whole weekend: welcome drinks on the Thursday, the rehearsal on the Friday, the wedding on the Saturday, and brunch on the Sunday before everyone heads home. The travel page searches flights for exactly those days.
